The son was just rising over the horizon to meet the many potential students who waited anxiously at the duel arena stadium. Normally this arena was used for professional dueling but today it leased to Duel Academy to host their exam.
Once inside a table had been set by the door for each potential student to register. Beyond that signed had been set to direct students to the room where the written exam would be held. Down the hall were the holographic duel fields where the practical examiners waited.
Mahad arrived at the sight looking lost. This all seemed to strange to him and he felt nervous. What would happen if he lost here? The line seemed to move so slowly as he waited.

"Oh dear. Oh dear." Augustus says as he shuffles into work fixing his glasses. He walked with a fevered pitch. He was late. Late for this favorite class of the day. Because his favorite student was going to be there. Daemon had been a prodigy with fiends and he could help but desire to take him underneath his wing. Under his training, he could one day surpasses him. He snickered that the thought. No one will be as good as him. Immortality had its advantages. One day all his peers will be gone but he will remain. The same thought did depress him too. However, he recovered long enough to gasp for air as he bumped into something hard. "Ouch," as he landed on his butt.

Mahad's day dream was broken as he found himself falling forwards onto the cool but hard pavement of the sidewalk. What happened? Something had hit him. Getting back to his feet he saw another person who had also fallen the other way. He was to old to be a student. He had red hair and looked normal but...something didn't feel normal about this guy. He had some kind of magic to him. "Sorry." He apologized to the man. Although he wasn't certian if he was at fault or not.

He stood up rubbing his behind. "Ouch." He looked around making sure he didn't drop anything. He noticed the kid on the opposing end. "You okay?" He extended his hand toward him to help him up.

Mahad hesitated for a second before taking his hand to get up. He seemed friendly enough but something still seemed strange about him. But for now he pushed it to the side. "I'm fine." He answered. "Do you work here?" He added curious about why the man was at the exam.

The youngster seemed alright. He looked him over very quickly before returning to answer his question. "Yes I am an Instructor. I teach element theory and type fiend duel mechanics at all levels." Not to mention that is probably the oldest instructor here. "Oh yeah and I referee student matches on the weekends." He looked him over once again. "A new student?"

"Oh. Yeah." Mahad said surprised that he was meeting a teacher before he even got to the academy. Element theory? Fiend Mechanics? Sounded pretty advanced. "Or at least I hope to be. Haven't taken either exam yet." Mahad added.

There was a devious grin on Augustus face. His face seemed to darken a little. The aura he was giving off was one mixed of pleasure, excitement, and even battlelust. It screamed that was either the wrong thing to say or the wrong person to say that to or even both. He slowly looked up at the boy, "I see." He reached for his deck in his hip pouch. "Then allow me the honor of evaluating your skills." Even with the formality of it, the comment still sounded....disheartening.

"Err..." Mahad said uncertainly. Something about this didn't seem right. Wern't they suppose to take the written exam first. But maybe this instructor would get him in before that. "Okay." He said weakly. He couldn't let a chance to make a good impression pass. Let's just hope Augustus was just a bit overeager.
